Buddy Bench

The students of the Hanson School have a new bench on our  playground – a Buddy Bench. A Buddy Bench is a spot where children can sit when they need a friend to play with. Friends will notice the student on the bench and invite them to play. It was presented to the school at the Sept. 28th scout meeting. The bench was built by Webelo Scouts Brayden Blanchette, Connor MacKenzie, and Camden Bruce from Cub Scout Pack 369. They constructed it during the summer and earned their Build It Pin as a result. The  lumber for the bench was generously donated by Eldredge Lumber & Hardware. The scouts displayed the bench in the gym during lunches on Friday and explained how to use the bench to all students in grades K- 3. Our students and staff are very appreciative of this beautiful, useful addition to our school! The following poem is inscribed on the seat:

If you sit here then we’ll know…

A friend will come and off we’ll go…

So sit and wait with a willing heart…

Because this bench is where friendships start.
