MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING on May 5, 2016

 

A regular meeting of the Board of Directors was held at the Noble High School in North Berwick, Maine on May 5, 2016 at 8:45 pm, following the district budget meetings with all members present. The student representative and the press were absent.  There were 3 people in the audience.

Ms. Potter made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Alwin to approve the minutes of April 28, 2016.  All members voted in favor except Ms. Rose and Mr. Smith, who abstained, and the motion passed.

Public Input: None

The Superintendent then shared a candidate, Ms. Kristen House, for the Guidance position at Noble High School.  Ms. Wheeler  made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Alwin to approve the hiring of Ms. Kristen House as guidance counselor at Noble High School. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.

The Superintendent then shared the resignations of Ms. Kristin Talcott, Social Worker at Mary Hurd Academy, Ms. Michelle Grieve, North Berwick Elementary School teacher, and Ms. Heather Hastings, North Berwick Elementary School music instructor.   Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Mr. Smith to accept the letters of resignation. All members voted in favor, and the motion was passed.

Other Business:

Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Mr. Price to adjust the agenda to include the acceptance of donations.  All members voted in favor and the motion passed.

Mr. Kelly Smith updated progress on the track at Noble Middle School. Both Turcotte Concrete and Boulanger Paving have donated time and materials. Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Mr. Price to accept the donation of concrete priced at $1700 from Turcotte Concrete.  All members voted in favor and the motion passed.

Mr. Price shared a request to try and book the auditorium next year for next year’s budget hearing.

Mr. Price made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Wheeler to go into executive session for negotiations pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A.405§(6)(D).  All members voted in favor and the motion passed. In at 9:02 pm.  Out at 9:09 pm.

Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Mr. Cowan to go into executive session for employment of an employee pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A.405§(6)(A). All members voted in favor and the motion passed. In at 9:10 pm. Out at 9:39 pm.

Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Potter to go into executive session for employment of employee pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A. 405§(6)(A).  All members voted in favor and the motion passed. In at 9:40 pm. Out at 9:53 pm

Mr. Price made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Alwin to adjourn at 9:57pm.  All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
