This summit is for: parents, coaches, and those interested in coaching,

and middle school to college-age student athletes

 

9:00-9:50 am   Fingerprinting Registration

$15 initial application fee and $55 fee for fingerprinting – checks, debit and credit cards accepted Picture ID, social security number, and email address required.

Follow up appointment at 21 Bradeen Street, suite 201, Springvale Required (Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm, Fri 9am-2pm)

10:00 -10:40  The Role of Parents, Athletes and Coaches in Today’s Athletics

   Keynote: Coach Jack Cosgrove, UMO Senior Associate Director of Athletics

Jack, the winningest football coach in UManie history, is now tasked with developing a leadership program for athletes and coaches, building relationships with high school coaches and athletic directors in the state, helping with fundraising and speaking on the university’s behalf, and assisting AD Creech with a multi-year vision for Maine athletics.

 

10:50 -11:35    Athletes and Concussions

Jan Salis and Hannah Willihan from the Maine Concussion Management Initiative Prior to the session, participants are encouraged to log onto http://nfhslearn.com/ to enroll in the Concussion in Sports elective course.  The online course is free and  takes approximately 30 minutes to view.

 

11:40 -12:10    Athletic Development and Performance Nutrition for the Youth Athlete          

Speaker: Ryan George from Pro Form Fitness Athletic Development and Fitness Training, Dover, New Hampshire. Ryan is a sports science and fitness specialist, who has worked with the Chicago Bears as a strength and conditioning assistant coach, as well as assisting offensive and defensive coaches during practices and games. Ryan also spent time with the NHL Buffalo Sabres and was the head strength coach for World Bowl X Champion Berlin Thunder of the European NFL.

                       

12:15 -12:45   Meet NOBLE High School Coaches and Athletes

Guided discussion in break out areas of the Noble High Café, followed by Q & A
12:45-2:45 CPR and First Aid and AED Training Certification – Instructor: NHS Athletic Trainer Dawn Bowden ($40 fee)
