The following letter is being sent home today with students of Hussey School:
V. E. Hussey School
20 Blackberry Hill Rd.
Berwick, ME 03901
February 15, 2018
We, like all of you, are still processing the tragic events that took place yesterday in Florida. Events such as this affect people in different ways. We want to share a few important things about Hussey School.
All our teachers and staff are observant of student behavior, emotions, and actions. If a child seems upset, anxious, or just not acting like him/herself a teacher or staff member will respond to that child in a reassuring and developmentally appropriate way. If you have concerns about how your child is reacting to yesterday’s events please reach out to your child’s teacher or our school counselors, Mrs. LeClair and/or Mrs. Jennings.
Our school continues to work in tandem with the Berwick Police Department, specifically school resource officer, Milton Fogg on all things safety related. Our school has a long standing Safety Committee that continually meets to review procedures and protocols. The Police Department assists us with the most effective and up to date processes to handle school safety events. The safety of our staff and students remains our utmost priority. Be assured that Hussey School will continue to put student safety in the forefront of everything we do.
