The last day of school is June 13th for grades K-5 and 9-12 and it is a half-day. The last day of school is June 12th for grades 6-8 and it is a full day. The staff for grades 6-8 will be using June 13th to help with the transition of grades for 2012-13.
The Vivian E. Hussey School in Berwick, Maine is hosting it’s first ever Farm-To-School Day on Friday, May 18th. Two parents from that school, Chef Evan Mallett and his wife Denise are helping source local ingredients for beef, cheese, etc. and have provided recipes and a menu. They will both be there to help cook, serve and talk with students about the sources of the foods that are being served.
At their board meeting on April 12th, the M.S.A.D. #60 Board of Directors approved a district calendar for the 2012-13 school year. The most significant change for next year is the inclusion of 2 hour delayed starts on Wednesdays for staff development purposes. All staff will be arriving at their usual time while student arrival time will be pushed back. This late start will be EVERY Wednesday for grades 6-12 while for grades K-5 it will be on the last Wednesday of the month. Why is this time important?
